SEATTLE, May 20-Korry Electronics Co. announced today that it
has won a $4.1 million contract to
produce LED cockpit switches and indicators for all of United
Airlines Boeing 757 aircraft. Korrys
LED-illuminated push-button switches and indicators will replace
the incandescent products currently in use.
This contract follows the successful upgrade of the United 767
fleet, completed in the fall of 1998.
Korrys LED products carry full FAA approval, and are designed
with reliability expectations to match the life
of the aircraft. They are sunlight readable, meeting the same
lighting requirements as the incandescent
products. The LED products significantly lower the switch surface
temperature, and reduce power
consumption by as much as 50 percent. Heat reduction can result
in increased component reliability
throughout the aircraft.
Korry is the worlds leading supplier of switches, integrated
panels, electro-optical subsystems and flight
deck solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, and is
a wholly owned subsidiary of Esterline
Technologies (ESL/NYSE), Bellevue, Wash.
